The World Needs Stricter Alcohol Policies – Study Claims

According to a new report by global health and development organisations the world needs stricter alcohol policies if we are to overcome alcohol related problems.

The report titled Trouble Brewing: Making the Case for Alcohol Policy, it was put forth that alcohol policy needs more attention.

The World Health Organisation estimates that globally 3  million people die each year as a result of harmful alcohol consumption.

Policies like bans or comprehensive restrictions on alcohol advertising, promotion and sponsorship, regulating alcohol availability and increased taxes are some of the ways governments around the world are addressing the burden of alcohol related issues but advocates say more needs to be done.

For example in France in 2015, a ban on digital marketing of advertising was introduced and it resulted in the daily use of alcohol dropping under 9 per cent.
