Sydney Small Bar Scene Growing

The Sydney small bar scene is growing, as well as the bar scene in the outer suburbs but the NSW government legislation is hampering profitability.

Barowners says lockout laws and a change in the legislation restricting patronage means profitability is being limited, forcing licensees to be more handson.

For small bars, its harder to make a profit because of their limited capacity, even if they are meeting their responsible service of alcohol obligations, they can only have a certain number of customers at a time. This has resulted in a drop in people and revenue since the laws were introduced.
