RSA NSW Update: Best Jobs in the Hospitality Industry

Hotel and Restaurant Managers and Sommeliers are some of the highest paid and most rewarded jobs in the hospitality. They take years of practice to build expertise but the rewards are well worth it.

To prepare you for a career in this exciting industry, formal training is a pre-requisite. One of the most important training courses you will undertake is the Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate.

The RSA certificate is a mandatory qualification for anyone entering the hospitality industry that will be involved in serving alcohol or working in an establishment where alcohol is served. This includes security staff of pubs and bars, waitrons and bartenders of licenced venues etc.

The good news is that the RSA course can be completed online without the cost and hassle of traditional face-to-face training. After years of only allowing face-to-face training in NSW, the Office of Liquor, Gaming and Racing (OLGR NSW) announced on 1 July 2012, that a twelve month trial of an Online RSA course in NSW would be launched. Governed by NSW State liquor laws, completion of an RSA course is mandatory for licensees, serving and security staff.

The NSW RSA certificate has the potential of opening up a whole new world for those wanting to enter this exciting industry or wanting to get one of the top jobs mentioned above. And these new regulations make it much easier- all you need is a computer and internet access. No more costly training institutes and time spent off work. You also save on travelling costs and are able to complete the course from the comfort of your own home, so there’s nothing holding you back from starting a new career in the hospitality industry in 2013.
