Protestors Challenge Strict NSW Lockout Laws

Protestors in NSW have expressed their dissatisfaction with the state’s lockout laws which they have described as “draconian”.

More than 1000 protestors marched from Hyde Park to Kings Cross in protest over the harsh law. They say the drunk people come to Newtown because they can’t go anywhere else in Kings Cross.

The spokesperson for the group “Reclaim the Streets” is Amanda Sordes, calling for the lockout laws to be abandoned. Sordes and her group say late-night revellers are pushed out of the CBD and attracted to areas such as Newtown, causing an increase in alcohol violence, exactly the outcome the government was trying to avoid.
