The NSW Government recently announced extended hotel and club trading hours for the Australian Open tennis men’s final, Tamworth country music festival and the AFC Asian Cup.

The extensions form part of the state government’s commitment to major cultural and sports events and to boost local economies, Minister for Racing Paul Toole said recently.

During the Australian Open men’s tennis final on 27 January, which is also the Sunday of Australia Day long weekend, the regular 10pm Sunday trading in NSW was extended to midnight.

It’s important to note that during events and busy periods, venues should not flout their Responsible Service of Alcohol duties. This includes not serving alcohol to minors and intoxicated patrons. It’s also important that all servers of alcohol and those working in licensed venues have completed Responsible Service of Alcohol training.
