New Plan for Lawbreaking Teenage Drinkers in Victoria


Victorian teenagers who break the law and engage in risky behaviour may be forced to undergo mandatory residential drug and alcohol treatment by the Children’s Court, should a proposed plan by Matthew Guy’s Opposition Coalition come into effect.

It is hoped the plan would benefit the community by making it safer and benefit troubled youths by presenting an alternative to jail.

A key service that would be part of the plan is post-release care. Mr Guy said the plan could help break the cycle of drug and alcohol abuse and criminal behaviour. Find out more
