Is alcohol after a workout a good or bad thing? Although the idea of consuming a calorie heavy beer after a workout may seem bad, combining exercise and alcohol is a growing trend in Australia and overseas.
Bier Yoga is the latest craze that combines yoga with beer. Classes are popular in New York City gym Uplift Studios and arrived in Sydney recently.
The “happy hour” class combines a glass of wine or bottle of beer with a workout.
According to experts alcohol in moderation during a workout is not that bad. In fact Dr J. Leigh Leasure from the University of Houston in the US found in a study that alcohol and exercise may trigger a response in the brain’s reward centre.
