South Australian Police have raided an address where suspected illegal manufacture of alcohol was taking place.
Police and the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) conducted the raid following a tip-off. It led to the discovery of equipment and ingredients used in making illicit spirits at the premises. There were also 21 bottles of illegal alcohol discovered.
Although beer and wine can be made at home legally in Australia, spirits cannot be made with the proper licence, even if it’s made for personal consumption, given the health risk posed.
