How Alcohol Really Affects Your Skin

Wine has been hailed as the magical elixir for your health, particularly heart health but how does it affect your skin?

According to a new study, wine may actually be the worst drink for your skin out of all other alcoholic beverages.

In fact Dr Mark Menolascino says that excessive wine consumption can actually cause ‘wine face’ – pronounced lines or redness between the eyes, droopy eyelids, enlarged pores, dehydrated skin, reddish cheeks and nose and deep nasolabial folds.

Dr Menolascino says alcohol’s dehydrating effect is not limited to your internal health, it also worsens lines and facial wrinkles, particularly between the brows.

Wine also causes the capillaries to dilate which results in flushed cheeks and a reddish complexion.

So make sure to stay hydrated and drink a lot of water between drinks.
